2. Cable Girls

Seasons: 6 seasons

Short Sell: Set in 1920s Madrid, Cable Girls is a period drama about the women of the National Telephone Company. While it is important to note that this is a Spanish language series, even those of us who don’t speak Spanish can enjoy this show. In fact, I found myself completely engaged in what was happening with these women as they worked hard to break boundaries and make a place for themselves in a society dominated by men.

Netflix describes: “In 1920s Madrid, four women at the National Telephone Company ring in revolution as they manage romance, friendship and the modern workplace.”

1. Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood

Seasons: 1 season

Short Sell: Looking for a period piece that brings drama, murder, and a look at the ever popular Oktoberfest? Then look no further than Netflix’s Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood.

In this series, two families go head to head in a quest to be the very best at the iconic beer festival that gives beer lovers everything they love about the drink and more. And with this desire to be the top dog, we end up with a story of deceit, betrayal, and of course outright murder.

Netflix describes: “In 1900 Munich, ambitious brewer Curt Prank uses brutal tactics on his quest to build a beer hall that will dominate the city’s lucrative Oktoberfest.”
