1. Even the Host Is Kept in the Dark

Wendy Williams and The Masked Singer host Nick Cannon have been friends for years. Cannon is a frequent guest on The Wendy Williams Show and even filled in to host her talk show during the Super Bowl LIII recap episode. So when Cannon called Williams, she thought he got word about her joining the FOX competition show.

“It’s weird because before I went out to LA, to do it, Nick called me late at night,” Williams said Thursday on The Wendy Williams Show. “We had an adult conversation — we talked about everything else and I thought he was calling me to tell me, ‘okay, so I’ll see you when you get out here. Good luck with the show. Are you sure this is what you wanna do?’ Or giving me advice, nothing. And I said nothing to him. Yeah, he had no idea.”

While the show definitely keeps the contestants a secret from its host as they do for the show’s judges, Williams said she didn’t have an opportunity to interact with her fellow contestants.

“I have no idea who else is under their costumes,” Williams said. “They kept us all separated.”
