2. From Paris with Love

Short Sell: While From Paris with Love is not the typical movie on this list, there is something so much fun about that I couldn’t resist including this one in the mix. It’s action and drama, and just a fascinating spy movie that feels like it would be a typical look at a Parisian film. Or maybe that’s just because when I think of well-crafted spy movies, I think of France.

From Paris with Love is not necessarily the ultimate movie about Paris, but it is so much fun (even as a spy meets crime movie) that it makes me think of the fun we had watching Emily in Paris.

Netflix describes:

"A low-level intelligence agent gets pulled into action and espionage above his pay grade when he’s ordered to assist a trigger-happy senior agent."

1. Les Misérables

Short Sell: I don’t think you can have a list of French or Parisian stories without including Les Misérables, the epic tale from Victor Hugo. It is a story of politicians, rebellion, poverty, love, loss, and everything that makes a brilliant story.

And when it comes to France and Paris, it is a look at the history of these people. As a musical it is beautiful and as a movie is truly epic. This is a must watch at least once. Just be prepared to cry a few times.

Netflix describes:

"The musical version of Victor Hugo’s epic tale of love and sacrifice, first produced for the stage in 1985, now receives the big-screen treatment."

While all of these Netflix programs are different, the thing that ties them together is the fact that they are set in France and in particular, Paris. And while Emily in Paris is a big reason why we are turning to these movies, they are also a chance to get a better feel for the city at the heart of her story.
