Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

From the author of This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story comes a new YA release, marking Kacen Callender’s second novel in the category. In Felix Ever AfterCallender tells the story of a teen searching for love — but Felix fears that he might be “one marginilization too many” to ever find his happy ending.

As Felix comes to terms with his own identity — being Black, queer, and transgender — he’s also forced to deal with an online bully taunting him about being trans and posting images of him prior to his transition. Naturally, Felix wants revenge — but trying to get it lands him in the midst of an unexpected love triangle.

That’s just one more thing Felix will have to sort through. According to the book’s synopsis:

"“But as he navigates his complicated feelings, Felix begins a journey of questioning and self-discovery that helps redefine his most important relationship: how he feels about himself.”"

Felix Ever After sounds like a breath of fresh air for the YA genre, with a unique story that tackles important topics and puts one’s relationship with themself at the forefront of the story. We can’t wait to get our hands on this novel — and if you’re a fan of YA contemporary, we’d recommend you give it a go, too.

Felix Ever After is available in print, ebook, and audiobook formats beginning on May 5.
