Project Runway has tackled team challenges and animal prints already this season. Now, the designers take on the always daunting unconventional challenge. Will this special challenge bring holiday joy or a runway full of Grinch-mas?

According to Project Runway, this week’s episode, “Sleigh the Runway” features the following:

"The designers are awakened by a surprise visitor who may or may not have arrived by chimney. Tis the season for holiday parties and the designers will be challenged to show their sense of spirit in the perfect party dress. They quickly learn that this isn’t a conventional holiday affair… it’s the unconventional materials challenge! Channeling their own holiday memories, the designers have two days to transform a winter wonderland into a wearable wonder, and then it’s up to the judges to decide who’s been naughty or nice."

Each of the designers should have known that an unconventional challenge would happen during the season. Hopefully, the designers prepared themselves for this type of challenge.

The key to doing well in an unconventional challenge is finding non-fabric like material and transforming it. Wrapping paper or a tree skirt shouldn’t be the majority of the look.

Given that the designers need to make a party dress, they have a lot of options. With all the sparkle from the holiday décor, it will be curious to see if the designer try to tone down the glitz factor. Sometimes the understated look can be the most impressive.

After the first two episodes, both Christian and the judges have really upped the biting remarks. Who didn’t cringe withe the droopy diapers comment?

With this episode being the unconventional challenge, the cutting comments could fly. Can these designers handle the criticism on the runway?
