Netflix’s The Dragon Prince is getting a third season sooner than we thought
Fans of Netflix’s The Dragon Prince were wondering if we’d ever see a third season, but New York Comic-Con had good news on that count.
Over the course of its past two seasons, Netflix’s The Dragon Prince has developed a cult following — though fans have been a bit concerned about whether or not the show would return for a third season. There was certainly more story to be told after season 2, but it feels like forever since we’ve heard any news about the world of Xadia.
Luckily, fans of The Dragon Prince now have some concrete answers. At New York Comic-Con this year, it was confirmed that the series will, in fact, be returning for a new season — and it’s coming sooner than we expected. According to the series co-creators Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, we’ll be able to find out what’s next for Callum, Ezran, and Rayla on November 22, when season 3 drops on Netflix.
The second season of the show expanded on the world of Xadia, diving into the finer details of its history and exploring the pasts of the series’ core characters as well. It also left many of these characters in pretty big predicaments by the season finale. Callum and Rayla are officially entering hostile dragon territory to return Zym to his people, while Ezran is heading back home to claim his throne.
Of course, what Ezran doesn’t realize is that he’s walking into strained relations, the possibility of war, and a ton of dark magic. Claudia and and Soren reluctantly became wrapped up in dark magic during the second season, and Viren took his own schemes to a whole new level when he got mixed up with the Startouch Elf Aaravos.
With so much going on, the stakes are going to be higher than ever during season 3 — and we can’t wait to see how things turn out. Alongside the season 3 announcement, the series also got its first official artwork for the upcoming episodes.
