When it comes to empowering women under the age of 30, Rowan Blanchard has to make the list. The former star of Girl Meets World on the Disney Channel may only be 17, but she is already proving that she is an activist and a feminist with a real message for the world.

Not only has she written in-depth, thought-provoking essays on topics such as gender politics and what it means to be a feminist, but she has also been chosen as a speaker for the Women’s March. And that’s not all. As Elle magazine pointed out when talking to the actress, Blanchard is also a “special ambassador for H&M’s Conscious Collection,” which is a line of clothing that is animal-friendly and ultimately sustainable.

When it comes to her activism, Rowan Blanchard is not just talking the talk, she is also walking the walk. Whether this means wearing a leather skirt that is actually made out of pineapple bark or educating herself on the issues that affect the oppressed, the actress is actively striving to make a difference in the world.

Perhaps what makes Blanchard so unique at a young age is the fact that while she may be willing to step up and speak out, she doesn’t want to be considered an activist and refuses to identify herself this way. For her, it is about being educated. She feels that she is an actress who reads, rather than an activist who fights. And there is nothing wrong with that.

The fact is that even if she does not want to call herself an activist, she is still doing what she believes to be right in order to make a difference.
