Tavi Gevinson

If you enjoyed the movie Person to Person, or are more of a Scream Queens person, then you likely recognize Tavi Gevinson. However, the 23-year-old is so much more than an actress.

Not only is Gevinson a feminist, but at the age of 12, she started her own style blog called Style Rookie. And it was not only her blog that caught people’s attention; she also walked runways wearing looks that were awe-inspiring all on their own.

Since those early days, Tavi Gevinson moved on to running Rookie, a magazine dedicated to art, writing, and photography with a focus on helping to enhance the lives of teens. Sadly, the magazine ended its run at the end of 2018 once it was no longer sustaining itself financially.

As mentioned, she is also a feminist and has used her platform to push for better representation in the media. Whether she is writing essays about empowering women or doing TED talks, here is a woman using her platform to empower other women.

Gevinson may no longer have her magazine, but that is not stopping her from speaking up. And it is that kind of determination to make a difference that makes the actress someone we should all know more about.
