Swamp Thing season 1 episode 2 live stream: Watch online

We venture further into the swamp this week on Swamp Thing, and the lore gives a better look at a notorious nemesis… or two.

We’re still sobbing through the news that Swamp Thing is finito after its first season. While we’re still hoping HBO will pick up the series so that we can watch more terrifying adventures through the extensive onscreen saga, we’ve powered through this week’s emotional episode. Sure, it was more emotional because… well, yesterday’s news. Regardless, Swamp Thing “Worlds Apart” rings in two new noteworthy antagonists.

Needless to say, the on-screen narrative is getting interesting. Despite the title of episode two, Abby Arcane actually becomes closer to Alec. Or, at least his consciousness. Her second meeting with Swamp is definitely less terrifying, but she still hasn’t uprooted the mysteries of Marais.

Despite the horror that led us to purchase a couple of nightlights, last week’s cliffhanger didn’t deter Abby’s mission to help Marais. In fact, according to Warner Bros. Television Division, her brief encounter with Swamp Thing prompts her to continue her scientific investigation:

"Certain that Alec’s disappearance is more than an accident, Abby and Matt venture into the swamp, where she encounters Swamp Thing. Scientist Jason Woodrue comes to Marais."

Matt and Jason Woodrue probably sound eerily familiar. That’s because they are. Like most things in Alec’s swampy-related lore, everything is connected like the Green itself. While Matt is a memorable antagonist — and also Abby’s husband at one point — we’re more preoccupied with Jason (Floronic Man) and his sudden appearance on the show.

See, Jason’s mythos runs deep in the Green beyond just his chloro-humanoid hybrid biochemistry. As an extreme version of eco-terrorism and, in his mind, a way of protecting the Green and ensuring its future success, he wants to kill all animal life.

We know, it makes absolutely no sense. Without animal life, there are no pollinating insects or birds who help new plant life germinate and thrive in new environments. Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy) at least had a more sensible plan: Kill all humans because they’re the jerks who perpetuated climate change to the dangerous state it’s in today.

Speaking of Ivy, in certain comic continuities, Jason actually created Pam’s plant form. We’re not sure how the series will fully depict Jason, his powers, or his villainous motives. But things are about to get even more intriguing on Swamp Thing.
