Lili Reinhart shares a scary fake Uber driver story that we all can learn from

Lili Reinhart opens up about a terrifying experience with a fake rideshare driver, emphasizing for everyone to be vigilant when using rideshare services.

Whatever your preference on rideshare services — Lyft, Uber or something else — it’s a given that they can be extremely useful in times of need. Late to work? Bad weather? Too many groceries to carry? Open up a rideshare app and you’ll be paired with someone to whisk you to your next destination.

While that sounds easy and fairly pleasant, Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart recently opened up how a rideshare experience could become unsafe very quickly.

The actress tweeted on June 2 that she was nearly picked up by a fake driver, instead of the Uber ride she’d requested.

Reinhart, thankfully, realized the situation wasn’t safe and didn’t get in the car. In a second tweet about this experience, she told her fans to please trust their gut if they ever feel they’re at risk when using a rideshare app.

Fans commented on Reinhart’s story, commending her for sharing it because it could be a useful warning to anyone using rideshare apps to get around.

Along with Reinhart’s advice, there are a few easy ways to ensure your next rideshare experience is a safe one.

When using Uber and Lyft, check the model of the car and the license plate number to make sure it matches the driver you’ve been paired with. During a ride, you can share your route with someone else, like a friend or a family member. If you ever feel unsafe during a ride, use tools provided by the app to alert a person or the app itself of your situation. You can learn more safety tips on Lyft and Uber‘s websites.

While Reinhart’s experience is terrifying, we’re glad that she got out of that situation safe and sound. It’s horrible that it happened in the first place, but her speaking about it on Twitter will definitely help teach others how to be safer when using rideshare apps in the future.
