19. Doomsday

I never thought I would say this but Doomsday was an unnecessary addition to Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The reason the actual villain of the movie felt unnecessary is the fact that the film had already made villains out of Batman and Superman.

I’m not saying Batman was a villain, but he was definitely not acting like the hero many of us know and love. And Superman was not much better. Ultimately, this left Doomsday to be this addition to the movie that we didn’t even need.

I get why Doomsday was in the movie, but he was a wasted villain. They wasted his potential and that is pretty sad considering in the comics, they have given us stories that make him much more interesting. In fact, he is probably one of the most powerful DC villains out there, after all even in the movie it took the combined strengths of Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman to defeat him, and even then it took the sacrifice of Superman to actually take down Doomsday.

The problem is that even with all of his powers and strengths, his story wasn’t enough to make him the kind of sinister villain we expect to see in any superhero movie, especially a DCEU film featuring three of the most iconic superheroes of the comics.

Batman vs Superman did Doomsday wrong, and that’s not something we ever thought we would say about a villain of any kind. Maybe they will give him a second chance in the future, but for now, he was simply not used to his maximum villainous potential.
