This is one of the few lines not spoken by a big character on the show, but the words still carry a lot of weight.

Martha is one of Varys’ little birds who he uses to spread information around. Martha was feeling quite disturbed under the watch of Daenerys’ soldier, but Varys ensured Martha she was doing good work. In turn, he asked Martha to repeat the quote mentioned above, as a way for her to feel much better about what she’s doing.

It’s a bit ironic though, seeing as there was no reward in Varys’ future despite his risk. He was ready to tell the whole world that Jon Snow was a Targaryen. But what did he get? Death by Drogon, that’s what. Maybe for him, the reward was being able to die before seeing Daenerys go full Mad Queen, but that’s a discussion for another day.
