Noah Centineo confirms he is about take on the role of He-Man
Noah Centineo has confirmed that he will be the new He-Man, meaning he is about to go from Netflix’s rom-com heart-throb to a big screen superhero.
For the last two years, Noah Centineo has been synonymous with romantic leads on Netflix. That might seem a bit farfetched since he has not been in that many rom-coms, but there are plenty of articles out there that refer to the actor as our favorite Netflix boyfriend.
While there is nothing wrong with being a romantic lead, it looks like Centineo is ready to move on and try something new. And as People magazine points out, that something new just so happens to be a superhero.
During a visit to the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Noah Centineo confirmed that he will be taking on the role of He-Man in the upcoming remake of Masters of the Universe. If you grew up in the 1980s, then you likely watched the original cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It was so popular that it has already inspired one live-action film already. In 1987, Dolph Lundgren actually gave us our first live-action He-Man, which means that Centineo has big shoes to fill.
You can see Centineo’s interview with Jimmy Fallon in the video below.
With three Netflix rom-coms under his belt, including To All the Boys I Ever Loved, it might feel weird having Noah Centineo take on such a big role in an iconic series. However, the actor has already said that while he enjoys doing the romantic comedies and wants to continue working on them, he also wants to “branch out… and do other things, too.”
As a fan of both the actor and the original Masters of the Universe, I have mixed feelings on this casting news. On the one hand, it is exciting to see Centineo spreading his wings and taking on the role of such an iconic hero. On the other hand, it seems weird picturing the romantic lead stepping into the shoes of He-Man. Maybe we just need that first look image to have us completely sold on the idea.
For now, I am excited for Noah Centineo, while also being eager to learn more about the remake and the other people being cast in the film. Hopefully, we get more details on the story and the characters soon so we can get used to the idea of Centineo being our new He-Man. In the meantime, at least we still have his newest Netflix rom-com, The Perfect Date and of course, To All the Boys I Loved Before to watch and enjoy on repeat.
