Jaime Lannister vs. Bucky Barnes

Jaime Lannister is one of the most interesting characters in Game of Thrones. We started out hating him, ended up loving him, and now we’re in a weird situation where we’d hate for him to fall at the Battle of Winterfell, even if he did try to kill a child once because he caught him sleeping with his sister.

Bucky Barnes is, likewise, one of the most interesting characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike Jaime Lannister, he has had slightly more of a… journey. We started out loving him, mourned him, feared him, felt conflicted as we supported him through his hot eyeliner stage, feared him again and in the end, simply wanted him to have the quiet life he truly deserves.

Making him fight Jaime Lannister seems a bit mean now, really. However, fight they must. They are natural bedfellows (more so than Jaime’s used to). Jaime Lannister is one of the best Knight’s in Westeros – and always ready to fight.

Bucky is a good soldier, and a trained assassin. Both have been capable of ruthlessness in the past. Both have also lost limbs in their time in their respective universes, both are troubled, handsome and conflicted – but who has the edge?

Unfortunately for Jaime, his sister hampered him when she made him a replacement hand made from solid gold. Whilst definitely a Look (oh come on, it’s tacky, Cersei!), it must be extremely heavy and not conducive to wielding a sword and being quick on your feet.

Bucky, on the other hand, does not have a ridiculous golden hand, and instead is afforded all the movement of a silver slinky – he can fight freely, since (quite sadly really) that is what he is intended to do.

Winner: Sorry, Jaime, my sweet Shrekian prince – Bucky wins.
