Two of pop culture’s biggest baddies are Marvel’s Thanos and Game of Thrones’ Night King. But who’s the baddest of the bad?

Marvel and Game of Thrones are almost inescapable right now, but for a good reason. We’re experiencing a high point in movies and television, with those two being massive juggernauts in the game. Behind these behemoths of franchises are the backbone that keeps the plot going and the drama coming: their villains.

For Marvel and Game of Thrones, there have been many bad guys to come across our heroes’ paths. Marvel had the likes of Red Skull and Loki, while Game of Thrones has baddies like Walder Frey and Cersei Lannister. The biggest threats of all though? Thanos and the Night King.

Thanos, as fans have seen since the first Avengers, is the purple guy who’s bent on taking out half of the universe. It’s a plan that starts with the tedious task of going planet to planet and wiping them out through brute force. But he realizes by collecting all six Infinity Stones, he can wipe out half the universe with the snap of his fingers.

We’ve had the fortune of knowing Thanos’ plans, but fans have known very little about the Night King. The Night King and the White Walkers have slowly been advancing from beyond the wall over the course of eight seasons, making him a clear threat for the Iron Throne. While the likes of Cersei and Daenerys have been busying themselves in the fight for the throne, the Night King and his wight army have been the silent threat unknown to most of Westeros.

Both are sinister in their own ways, but who is the most formidable villain? Read on to see our break down of each villain and, ultimately, who’s the biggest baddie.
