Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2: Arya and Gendry share a major moment

While Daenerys and Jon Snow may be “the” couple to watch in season 8, we sense a new couple may take over social media tonight.

Warning: Below, you’ll find spoilers for tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones

Romance has never been the focal point of Game of Thrones, but fans have always held hopes of certain characters getting together. One relationship that’s received plenty of attention, especially since the eighth season premiere, is that of Arya and Gendry.

The two were reunited during “Winterfell,” and they were definitely flirting with one another while Gendry worked on his weapons.

Any doubt of their feelings about one another have been erased with the second episode. Following their discussion of the Night King and his approaching army, things got pretty steamy between the two of them—confirming a ship that some fans have been waiting to see sail since the second season of the series. After all, Arya and Gendry had a pretty amicable relationship while they were traveling to the Night’s Watch, as well as during their stay at Harrenhal.

But that friendship appears to have evolved during their time apart, and frankly, we’re here for it. The two complement each other pretty well, and they’ll make a cute couple—assuming they both survive the Battle for Winterfell, and Arya’s plans to kill the queen.

If they do wind up together, it’ll also fulfill Ned’s and Robert’s wish that their children would wed and bring together their houses. And let’s be honest, we all prefer this to Sansa marrying Joffrey.

Along with these two getting together to the excitement of shippers everywhere, Gendry also revealed a big chunk of information to Arya — comparable to Jon Snow’s truth bomb to Daenerys tonight.

Before the two get together, Gendry tells Arya he’s Robert Baratheon’s bastard, which leads to some pretty awkward questions from Arya about the Red Woman, Melisandre. It’s clear though Arya isn’t intimidated by the Red Woman, or any woman Gendry’s been with for that matter — this is Arya after all.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens between these two once news of Gendry’s ancestry becomes more public. Daenerys won’t be happy to learn one of Robert’s heirs is alive, and some fans even suspect that Gendry might be a contender for the Iron Throne by the end of the season. He’s never suggested that he’s interested in that kind of power, but anything’s possible on Game of Thrones.

Hopefully we’ll see more of Arya and Gendry during next week’s episode of Game of Thrones.
