Loki was trending worldwide on Twitter, offering Endgame fans a little hope

With the Avengers: Endgame countdown drawing closer and closer to the film’s release, Twitter finally revealed its emojis for the movie. Loki has his own adorable emoji along with his hashtag, and it’s gotten fans hopeful.

Everyone has their own opinions on the Schrodinger’s cat of the MCU, Loki. Some hate him. Most love him. Some call him a gremlin, or a bridge troll, or greasy, or a deceased popsicle. Whereas, most of us call him the God of Mischief, the Trickster, or the God of Unfortunate Timing.

For Loki, his many titles — official, unofficial, and insult-driven alike — are a part of his characterization. But today, us Loki stans set aside our differences by reveling in the fact that he got his own official Avengers: Endgame hashtag — complete with a cute emoji and the bragging rights of being on the worldwide trending list shortly after its virtual debut.

We never need a reason to virtually scream at our Twitter followers about Loki. However, in a perpetual Loki-content drought (especially in the MCU), it doesn’t hurt to finally have a reason to tweet about the Asgardian Prince. Now that he has his own hashtag to celebrate the pre-Endgame festivities (postmortem… maybe), it seems like the consensus is that Loki’s emoji is adorable, and everyone is just happy that they have a new way to show their appreciation for the shapeshifter.

And, yes, we’re crying as well. To be fair, this is a totally acceptable thing to cry about, and we’re not ashamed.

Following the big reveal of his Twitter emoji, it’s easy to see why he’d start trending worldwide. After all, his fandom should be considered one of his superpowers at this point.

This might as well be live footage of the Loki fandom right now. Hopefully, we have this same mood during and after Avengers: Endgame. In fact, a lot of fans are now even more confident about Loki’s fate in Endgame after now that he has a Twitter emoji.

We all know what happened to the MCU’s incarnation of Loki when we last saw him in Infinity War. We don’t need to recap that pain. While the Russo brothers, Marvel Studios, and nearly every fan theorist claims that Loki is permanently dead, the rise of his Twitter emoji is giving some of us hope that we’ll at least see some form of a cameo in Endgame.

From War Machine to M’Baku and even Korg and Miek, a lot of MCU characters have their own emojis. They all seem to share some commonalities beyond their emojis. All of them have been rumored to appear in Endgame, including the God of Mischief.

A lot of dusted and dead characters, such as Gamora, Black Panther, and Shuri have their own emojis as well. Given that both survivors and victims of the snap (and the ambiguous characters in between) have Twitter emojis, that hasn’t stopped a lot of Loki fans from filling his hashtag with new theories about Loki’s survival.

Seeing as the God of Mischief isn’t the only MCU character with an emoji-riddled hashtag, and half of the characters with their own emojis have been pseudo-confirmed as survivors of the snappening (thanks to some Endgame posters), Loki might ultimately be alive after Endgame. Given his strange history in mythology, comics, and film, more unlikely things have happened. Either way, it’s just nice to see the trickster in emoji form.
