The Twilight Zone’s third episode, “Replay,” reenvisions aspects of an old episode, and we’re ready to delve deeper into an alternate dimension.

The Twilight Zone turns up the creepiness in its third episode, “Replay.” Like its two-part premiere, this week’s episode will feature a new angle on a classic, creepy tales from a parallel dimension. So, grab your popcorn, sit down, and prepare for the inevitable chills from the eerie scoring and the introductory narration scene.

Last week, The Twilight Zone gave us two episodes with the start of its season, along with an unusual showtime. The series premiere gave us some necessary time to coax ourselves back into the nostalgic mindset in a modern era. Now, we’re prepped and ready for any and every surreal avenue the show has to offer. After all, knowing that old episodes inspired certain new episodes on the rebooted series doesn’t exactly prepare us for the directs’ spin on the stories.

Courtesy of CBS All Access, the synopsis of “Replay” seems familiar, but aren’t exactly comfortable with that familiarity:

"Nina (Sanaa Lathan) has an old camcorder that can rewind time, but can it help her ensure the future of her college-bound son Dorian (Damson Idris)?"

The premise of “Replay” might seem similar to “Replay” in the original titular series, we can expect the episode to gather elements from other areas of horror, science fiction, and social criticism. Based on the trailer’s scoring and pacing, we’re preemptively waiting for what horrors await Nina. Judging by Sanaa Lathan’s expressions, her character is in for a lot of repetitive emotional strain.

With Gerard McMurray (The First Purge) helming the director’s chair for this week’s episode, we’re eager to see his socio-political commentary crossover in episode 3. Of course, there’s a lot more to the show that recreating classic stories and making commentary, so we’re eager to get scared. After all, that’s one of the many perks of watching The Twilight Zone, right?
