As the Lyons grapple with news of Andre’s illness, Kingsley closes in on his revenge plot against Lucious, but can the Lyons turn things around?

The end of “Hot Blood, Hot Thoughts, Hot Deeds” showed Lucious finding out that Andre had stage 4 lymphoma from Terri. The next episode shows the rest of the family learning the news and dealing with Andre’s sickness.

"After receiving news about Andre’s health, the Lyon family does everything in its power to support him, while continuing the tour. As Cookie and Lucious hash out their wrongdoings, Kai (guest star Toby Onwumere) comforts Jamal through this process. Meanwhile, Maya comes to terms with where she stands with Blake and the others, and the rest of Empire must make sure the tour stays afloat…"

Meanwhile, Cookie grapples with her guilt about her night with Damon, and she seems to not be the only one regretting her, *um*, “extracurricular” activities on the tour. Tiana seems to realize she doesn’t like Carlito as much as she originally thought.

The news of Andre’s illness will be a blow to everyone in the family. Andre has probably occupied the “Black Sheep” role in the family more frequently than anyone else due to his lack of a musical gift. I’m looking forward to seeing how their relationships with him shift now that he’s sick.

As Cookie and Lucious come to terms with Andre’s diagnosis, they start to think it’s payment for their misdeeds. Lucious looks to make things right with Kingsley as a way to settle the cosmic score. I don’t know everything about karma or who God or the universe decides to punish, but I don’t think Kingsley’s on board with reuniting with Lucious and becoming part of the Lyon clan, and that might impact Lucious’ plan for karmic balance.
