Who’s ready for the ball? Project Runway All Stars season 7 episode 11 challenges the remaining designers to channel their most glamorous designs. Will someone make a modern ball gown fit for royalty, or will these ball gowns be last year’s news?

According to Lifetime, this week’s episode synopsis states, “Nina Garcia challenges season winners to design modern ball gowns in luxurious silk. Fashion legend Iris Apfel joins the judges.”

This week’s episode should be quite intriguing. When Nina Garcia makes an appearance on Project Runway, the judging is fierce. Garcia never holds back on her commentary. Even though these previous winners have overcome her judgments, the fear that she can create is tremendous.

Given the theme of this week’s episode, modern ball gowns, the designers have a very substantial challenge ahead of them. A ball gown can go wrong in so many ways. Finding the right balance between glamour, chic and feminine takes a deft hand. It will be curious to see which designer can find that right balance.

Looking at the remaining designers in this season, Irina Shabayeva should have an advantage in this week’s episode. If she can keep the taste level high, she could easily walk away with the win. Her designs are big, bold and feminine.

While Dmitry Sholokhov is a talented designer, his looks all season have been slightly drab. The ruffled, peasant dresses do not necessarily vibe with a modern ball gown. He will need to step up his game to stay in the competition.

Lastly, Michelle Lesniak and Anthony Ryan Auld will need to push themselves this week. While both designers have been in the top and won challenges, modern ball gowns aren’t necessarily their specialty. If these designers can find the balance between eclectic and sophisticated, they should be able to continue on in the competition.
