Avengers: Endgame expected to beat Infinity War’s box office record
Our self-imposed countdown for the Avengers: Endgame premiere is already in the double digits. Avengers 4 seems to be getting better because the film is expected to hit record box-office numbers.
While there’s a lot that we need to check off our mental checklist before we’re emotionally prepared for another Avengers film full of emotional pain, we’re excited to see the original on-screen Avengers try to take down Thanos again. It’s clear that Endgame is one of the most anticipated superhero films of the year, and the movie is tracking to have a record box office weekend.
According to Bloomberg, Avengers: Endgame is set to beat Avengers: Infinity War for its high weekend sales. With projected earnings of $282 million in its opening weekend, it’s easy to see why many fans are preordering their tickets.
If the mournful reactions in the wake of Avengers: Infinity War are any indication of fans’ interest in Avengers: Endgame, then we’d guess the upcoming MCU film is going to be a box office smash.
The majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has built toward Thanos’ reign with the Infinity Gauntlet, so fans are eager to see the next installment in the MCU. With social media making spoilers more prevalent, its debut weekend could easily break Infinity War‘s record earnings from last year.
On top of that, Captain Marvel‘s premiere comes over a month ahead of Endgame. Given the painful post-credit scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp, we can only assume that the credits scenes at the end of Captain Marvel will increase the stakes of Avengers: Endgame.
Granted, the box office speculations for Avengers: Endgame could be off, just like our insurmountable fan theories could be wrong. However, we can already assume the impending film will bring the end of an era for at least one critical hero, and fans aren’t likely to miss an opportunity to pay homage to their favorite characters.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
