Emilia Clarke

Question: did she and Awkwafina coordinate on color choices? These looks are oddly similar, but Clarke’s version is somewhat sleeker, helped along by her short hair and fairly minimalist styling. It’s attention-grabbing, but not as dramatic as some of the nominees’ clothing choices.

We will say this, though: what on earth is going on around her hips? It looks like it’s supposed to be part of the architectural details started in the bodice, but it looks super funky all the same. Also, we support her in her struggles to not say anything about Game of Thrones‘ final season.

Marie Kondo

No one is allowed to make the expected joke about Marie Kondo using her catchphrase from Tidying Up. We’ve already used our silly puns for this fashion roundup. The short sleeves are great, and in a lot of ways, we like this for the same reason we liked Domee Shi’s look — the use of an overlay without dominating the dress, the use of metallics, and just how well-suited it seems to be for its wearer.

What a lovely color for her, and how lovely that she was there. She looks comfortable and ready to have herself a night at the Oscars. Honestly, we want to know what she thought of all of the winners.
