Style Diaries: How to dress like Kate Middleton

Dressed down jacket, jeans, and boots
While we mostly see the Duchess of Cambridge dressed up or in outfits that are perfect for a work day, there are times when we get to see her a bit more dressed down. Which was the case on January 15, when the Duchess stepped out in a tweed jacket with black skinny jeans and a pair of lace up boots that were stylish, but work ready.
We certainly love seeing her dressed up and ready for whatever work she has to deal with, but when we see her dressed down like this, it reminds us that she really is like us in many ways. And while her look might appear more dressed down, the price tag associated with what she is wearing is definitely not in our budgets. Luckily, there are plenty of options out there that will allow us to channel the Duchess’ more dressed down look, while still staying within a respectable budget.
In terms of the jacket that the Duchess is wearing, we opted for something a bit different. It is still in the tweed family, but this one is a black and white check tweed biker style jacket that will give you a lot of versatility. It will pair well with a number of looks, and that is something we think the Duchess would approve of. And at just $32, you really can’t go wrong.
For the jeans that the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing, we opted to go with a pair from H&M. These Embrace High Ankle Jeans have the skinny look the Duchess went with, while also being affordable at $39.99. And the high waist look is something that is currently trending, which is why we went this option.
Finally, it is all about the boots with this look, which is why we wanted to find something that really called to mind the pair the Duchess is wearing. In the end, we went with a pair of Timberland Carnaby Cool Boots in black, because they are durable, worth the money, and give us the same vibe that the pair Kate Middleton is wearing does. While these boots might come in at $119, it is still money that is well spent.

No matter what she is wearing or where she is going, Kate Middleton has shown the world that she is a style icon. While her wardrobe is all about her royal duty, it is clear that she has a sense of fashion that is all her own.
