Titanic – Jack and Rose

Here’s another kiss that has been recreated and parodied countless times, from Family Guy to, most recently, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan in the “1999” music video. Titanic is definitely considered one of the greatest movies of all time, with a forbidden romance that ends in tragedy between Rose and Jack, so it’s no surprise that this kiss landed on our list.

In this iconic scene, Jack is standing alone on the bow of the ship when Rose comes up behind him. Jack pulls her closer to the edge and tells her to close her eyes. The couple are standing on the bars, facing the open water, and that’s when Jack tells her to open her eyes. With an instrumental of Celine Dion’s Oscar-winning “My Heart Will Go On” playing in the background, Rose exclaims “I’m flying!”

Jack and Rose stay like that for a while as the boat sails on, taking in the sunset before Rose turns around to go in for the kiss. Not only is it romantic, with a view to die for (too soon?), but there’s also that bit of danger from the fact that they’re practically hanging off the edge of a massive ship.

While Jack and Rose’s romance doesn’t exactly end in happiness, the two have an immense love for each other, and Jack sacrifices himself so that Rose can stay out of the freezing water after the boat crashes into an iceberg.

Now that’s romance!
