The Notebook – Noah and Allie

You knew this one was coming, so I didn’t want to keep you waiting too long! The Notebook is definitely considered one of the greatest romantic films in cinema history, if not the greatest. Ever since its release in 2004, viewers have been crying their eyes out over the romance between Noah and Allie, a poor quarry worker who falls head over heels for a teenage heiress in 1940s South Carolina. Their whirlwind summer love affair may hay gotten mixed reviews from critics, but that didn’t stop the movie from becoming an instant classic.

The entire movie could be broken up into so many iconic moments that leave us all swooning, but there’s one kiss in particular that really takes the cake. When Noah and Allie are rushing back to the land in a boat as the rain starts to pour down, tensions are flaring. Allie finally shouts at Noah about why he didn’t write her the whole time they were separated because she waited seven years to hear from him and never did.

Noah can’t believe what he hears, because he wrote her every day for a year, 365 letters total. She may think it’s too late, but he tells her it’s never over, and then right there in the pouring rain, he grabs her and passionately kisses her. Who wouldn’t mind standing in the rain if it meant making out with Ryan Gosling, am I right?

The kiss in the rain is considered one of the greatest movie kisses of all time, and it’s easy to see why. The passion between Allie and Noah is undeniable from the start, but in that moment you see it bubble over, and it results in that magical moment.
