Cardi B

Cardi B just did a Birth of Venus on the red carpet, except with much better accessories than just her hands. From the pearls wrapped around her hair to the ones at her hips and the classical art reference, this is a very mermaid-esque look — but rendered in black, pink, and beige instead of your normal sea greens and blues. It’s classic without being unfashionably retro and body-conscious enough to fit right in her wheelhouse.

Forget your Gagas and your Musgraves. Cardi knew where to deploy her volume for maximum effect.

If we have one complaint, it’s the little rose. Yeah, it’s probably there for a reason, but it distracts from the sleekness of the bottom compared to the top.

Bebe Rexha

In the back, Bebe Rexha’s straps are crisscrossed, meaning that she has something resembling actual support. Take notes, everyone. Anyway, if we had one complaint about this dress, the tulle does some weird things up at her waist before evening out and looking structured even as it’s voluminous closer to her feet.

Prior to the awards, she made her struggles with finding a designer public. Kudos to Monsoori for stepping up and making something that was lovely and eyecatching in its color and design both.
