Uncanny Avengers #4 might have retconned the Maximoff twin’s family tree and Roma percentage yet again to reveal that the Wanda and Pietro Maximoff’s parents have actually been Django and Marya Maximoff all along, making them completely Roma and erasing their Jewish heritage in the process.

But before Marvel Comics retconned their Jewish ancestry out of their percentage, most comic readers believed Magda and Magneto were their biological parents, even if Django and Marya did raise them (save for the weird arc where a genetically modified, talking, and bipedal bovine raised them).

Though Marvel has a long history of tweaking the Maximoff lineage in ways that would make soap operas jealous, Polaris (Lorna and the Scarlet Witch [Wanda]) were siblings at one point in the comics.

While we’d like to see the MCU and X-Men universe retcon its whitewashed portrayals of the Maximoffs before we see the on-screen sisterly team-up we deserve, Lorna Dane (Polaris) and Wanda have limited cameos within the comic panels, and it would be exciting to see how Marvel expands their complicated family history in a cinematic form.

Granted, Lorna and Wanda’s pseudo-sibling relationship is as equally a complicated family dynamic as Wanda’s lineage.
