Miles Morales and Gwenpool

Gwen Stacy isn’t the only Gwen in Miles Morales’ life. Gwendolyn Poole (Gwenpool) might be a Gwen, but she doesn’t have the same relationship with Miles Morales as Spider-Gwen does.

Granted, Gwenpool doesn’t even have the same amicable friendship with Miles as, well… Gwenpool. Being hyperaware of your life as a fictional comic book character is difficult enough, but it makes it even harder when two versions of yourself from two different realities simultaneously exist in one comic run.

You see, The Unbelievable Gwenpool clarifies Gwen’s origin as the masked mercenary. When she officially travels to her superhero-less dimension to one when her favorite comic book characters are real, Miles initially tries to attack her because her future-self isn’t the same optimistic hero the current Gwen is and wants to continue to be. It’s tough being both the protagonist and antagonist within (and outside of) your comic panels.

Given the two alternate versions of Gwenpool, Miles acts as a friend, heroic ally and an archenemy to the more antagonist version of Gwen. The narrative diverges from the current tone of the MCU, but we aren’t opposed to an out-of-character script for a solo movie.

We’d love to see a similar narrative replicated either as a film or a Marvel series (please, Disney+, we’re begging you to bring Gwenpool and Miles Morales to your streaming service).
