Niles and Daphne – Frasier
What you need to know: Niles was in love with Daphne long before she ever had a clue. In fact, Niles loved her even when he was married to someone else. Daphne works as an in-home care nurse for Niles’ (and Frasier’s) aging father.
Daphne is from a British working-class family, and Niles is a pretentious psychologist who has really bougie tastes. The two are definitely opposites, but Niles subverts his snootiness so he can proudly moon over Daphne.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: Niles is completely gone for Daphne. Any man who can love a woman for that long and that hard, without any sort of reciprocation, is really kind of admirable. He admires her from afar, and the dramatic irony of it all is that she never knew. The audience could see Niles pining away for her, and when they finally got together, it felt like a giant win for us all.
How to watch it all unfold: This romance is a real slow burn, so it’s going to take all 11 seasons to see it all the way through. Hulu has the whole series, so get to watching, folks.
