Cheryl and Toni – Riverdale
What you need to know: There’s a lot of couples on Riverdale, but none as smoking hot as Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz. Sure, we’re supposed to be obsessed with Archie and his abs, and Jughead and his moroseness, but they are super boring compared to our beloved Choni.
Even though they often get bumped to the B-plot, and sometimes even the C-plot, they are the most interesting thing Riverdale has in the way of romantic entanglements. They are also star-crossed lovers from opposite sides of the tracks, but together their spark comes right out of the screen.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: It’s hard not to wish two people so freaking beautiful and capable not to be together. Also, fans of The CW’s melodrama know that the core four are kind of hopeless when it comes to things — except Betty of course. So, to see two characters who aren’t constantly bungling the capers is a bit of breath of fresh air.
Riverdale is also so stingy with the Choni plots that we’re all left panting for more scenes with them. Since their romance isn’t front and center, all we want is more. I’m not sure Riverdale is doing this on purpose, but it’s certainly working for me.
