“I Got A Feeling” – Black Eyed Peas

The Black Eyed Peas had been around since the ’90s, and broke into the mainstream when they brought Fergie into the group in 2003 with the single “Where Is The Love?” But they managed to keep a pretty solid reign in the music industry for the years that followed, including when they released their fifth album The E.N.D. in 2009.

The album spawned a handful of hits, including “I Gotta Feeling,” which is another song that still comes on in clubs and at parties that gets everyone pumped up. The track, produced by David Guetta, earned the group a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a duo or group. “I Gotta Feeling” spent 14 consecutive weeks on the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest-running #1 single of 2009.

Besides being a commercial hit, it was also one of the catchiest songs of the year. The uptempo dance track was heavy on the bass and autotune, like most of The E.N.D., but the lyrics about having a good night and partying every day resonated with fans, which is probably why it’s still so popular. Who doesn’t love a good party anthem? And that’s exactly what “I Gotta Feeling” was — it wasn’t complex or deep or inspirational; it was a fun party anthem.
