Choose some classic British dishes and sweets

Thanks to Bustle‘s royal wedding planning ideas, we actually have some suggestions for how to bring some British sweets and dishes to the table for a holiday dinner. Among their suggestions for things to have on hand were scones, clotted cream, and tea sandwiches.

Of course, since this is a dinner party, you may want some more substantial offerings, and for that, we look at some past royal wedding menus. Specifically our two favorite Duchesses, Kate and Meghan.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, there were actually a number of different options at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, from the lighter fare, to some much more filling options. Dishes on the menu included:

  • Ham wrapped grilled asparagus
  • Chicken (poached), bound in a spiced yogurt with roasted apricots
  • Roasted pork belly with an apple compote
  • Chicken fricassee with leeks and morel mushrooms.

And if you want inspiration from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding as well, we have that, too. Dishes on their menu included:

  • Cornish crab salad on a blini
  • Duck terrine with a fruit chutney
  • Bubble and squeak with lamb shoulder confit
  • Poached asparagus with hollandaise sauce
