Poe and Kaz team up in “Station Theta Black” to find a First Order facility in the Unknown Regions. Unfortunately for them, the First Order has plans for this station that puts their lives at risk.
Captain Doza has had enough with the pirate attacks and the only way to get rid of them would be to make an agreement with the First Order. In last week’s episode, the meeting between Doza and Commander Pyer finally happens. Although Doza doesn’t sign off on giving the First Order access to the Colossus, he’s seriously considering i,t and the proof Kaz needs resides in Doza’s datapad.
Through sheer tenacity, Kaz manages to get himself into Doza’s office, where he copies the information directly from the datapad. Now, he has to bring the proof to the Resistance’s attention in person. After all, transmissions can be intercepted, so Poe Dameron comes into the picture for this final Star Wars Resistance episode of 2018 to pick up the intel.
According to the official synopsis:
"When Poe and Kaz find an old First Order mining facility, BB-8 discovers the facility isn’t so abandoned."
It’ll be exciting to see Poe and Kaz join forces once again for a new mission. Hopefully, there won’t be any Kowakian monkey-lizards or pirates involved, like in the episode “Signal from Sector Six.”

The two pilots work well together. Poe has the confidence and experience Kaz lacks, so this is an opportunity for Kaz to learn more from him. While Poe isn’t perfect and has made plenty of bullheaded mistakes, he’s still a good influence on Kaz. Poe also has the ability to bring out Kaz’s strengths and encourage him to make bold decisions. Kaz needs more of that in his life, especially if he wants to continue playing a part in the Resistance.
Turns out the station they go to investigate is a mining facility, but what natural resources are the First Order acquiring? In Star Wars Rebels and Rogue: A Star Wars Story, the Empire used to mine for kyber crystals, since they contained the energy necessary to power the Death Star. From what we know, kyber crystals aren’t a source of energy for Starkiller Base, so the First Order is digging for something else. What could it be?
It could be a mineral essential for First Order production lines. In the novel Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller, the Galactic Republic and the Empire used thorilide from the moon Cynda to create warship turbolaser batteries. Whatever it is they’re mining, it’s not good for the Resistance or the galaxy at large.
“Station Theta Black” is the final episode of 2018, so some would consider this a mid-season finale. We wonder if it’ll end in a cliffhanger, especially with Captain Phasma involved in the episode. She could end up capturing Kaz and the Resistance would have to mount a rescue mission of some kind. It’s just a theory, but we look forward to how the episode will pan out this coming weekend.
