Avengers 4: Two fan theories suggest the Quantum Realm is more important than ever

The Quantum Realm is likely to be a significant factor in Avengers 4, and fans have plenty of theories as to how it will play into the film’s overall story.

As we wait for any and all official news from Marvel about the upcoming Avengers film (heck, we’ll even take a few more questionable tweets), we’re rounding up a couple theories regarding the Quantum Realm and how it could connect to the plot of Avengers 4.

Ant-Man and the Wasp introduced us to the Quantum Realm, and questions about how this space could impact our heroes have been flying ever since.

1: The dusted heroes from Infinity War are in the Quantum Realm, not the Soul Stone.

While we don’t know if either of these theories are true, it’s worth exploring both options. Many fans have suggested that the people who were snapped out of existence at the end of Infinity War are now residing in the Soul Stone. They cite the scene where Thanos is with a young Gamora in a red, in-between world that appears to be the Soul Stone. And, as it’s likely at least some of these heroes will return, there is likely a place they are in where they can be saved from.

But, according to Screen Rant, there is a new fan theory that offers another idea. In this theory, fans suggest that the dead heroes are being held in the Quantum Realm.

A Reddit user outlines how during the Ant-Man and the Wasp credits scene, Scott Lang is going into the Quantum Realm to investigate particles that could help Ghost heal and remain in reality. During his visit to the Quantum Realm, the Thanos snap happens. The scene does seem to make it clear that the snap has impacted the Quantum Realm in some way, and this theory suggests that the souls of the snapped heroes have ended up there instead.

2: The Quantum Realm contains time vortexes that will help the Avengers defeat Thanos.

In an article by CBR, a theory was outlined about how the Quantum Realm could be used to help defeat Thanos. We also learn in the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp that Janet Pym ran into time vortexes while in the Quantum Realm.

Since Scott is stuck there, he might be able to learn more about time vortexes and use them to help the Avengers work to defeat Thanos. Maybe this is how the Avengers team up with Captain Marvel or how they go back in time to the battle of New York? Many fans have wondered if the Time Stone would come into play and time travel would happen, but maybe the Quantum Realm has something to do with time travel in Avengers 4 instead.
