Glenn Howerton as Star-Lord

Glenn Howerton, of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame, was considered at one point for the role of Star-Lord. While none of the lead actors from this TV series have been in the MCU yet, Howerton did get pretty close. James Gunn, who directed Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, has said that Howerton was his second choice for the character if Chris Pratt hadn’t ended up working out.

Chris Pratt did take the role. It seems like actors with the first name Chris just can’t resist being in the MCU. Chris Pratt has brought arrogance and humor to the character. He is also becoming quite the action-adventure star, so it makes sense that Gunn wanted him for the role. How things will shape up with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise after the controversy with James Gunn remains to be seen. But Star-Lord is the main character in that franchise, so it makes sense they will have to finish up that character arc in one way or another.

Now that Howerton is no longer going to be in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, maybe he will take a role in the MCU at some point.
