Olivia Wilde as Gamora

Olivia Wilde was actually offered the part of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy. She ended up turning down the role, for reasons that she hasn’t disclosed. Olivia Wilde was in Tron: Legacy as well as Cowboys & Aliens, two films which didn’t have a lot of success, so maybe she wasn’t looking to be in another big blockbuster action movie.

The role ended up going to Zoe Saldana who has done a great job with the character. She has been able to bring a large measure of kick-assness as well as emotional depth. The character really became more complex and fleshed out in Avengers: Infinity War as the film explores the relationship between Gamora and her step-father Thanos. This fractured, abusive relationship was at the core of the film in many ways, and it was tragic to see Gamora’s death at his hand.

Olivia Wilde is also a talented actress, and we wouldn’t mind seeing her take on a role in the MCU in the future. For now, however, it is just strange to think about her taking on the role of Gamora. Fans are also still waiting to see the fate of the other Guardians in Avengers 4.
