Meghan Markle is set to carry out her first solo royal outing in the next week. The Duchess of Sussex will be attending an art exhibition opening.

In preparation for her first royal tour with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle will actually be going on her first royal outing all on her own. According to the Telegraph, the Duchess of Sussex will be attending an opening at the Royal Academy of Arts in central London.

The art exhibition will feature works from Oceania, the same region the Duchess and her husband will be visiting during their tour of the Commonwealth. There will be approximately 200 pieces of art from areas encompassing the Pacific region. Specifically, the exhibit Markle is attending “will celebrate the art of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia, encompassing the vast Pacific region including New Guinea, Easter Island, Hawaii and New Zealand.”

At the exhibit, the Duchess of Sussex will have the opportunity to see art from all four countries that she will be visiting. She will also get the chance to meet with the curators of the exhibition, plus the artists and descendants of artists whose work will be on display. There will even be a short performance that the Duchess will get to see while at the opening.

Considering the art exhibit will showcase art from the same area that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be visiting in October on their Commonwealth tour, it certainly makes sense that she would want to attend the opening. This will be her chance to get a feel for the people and culture of the areas she will be visiting on her first royal tour.

Beyond that, however, the art opening will also be a major milestone for Markle as part of the royal family. This will be the first time that the Duchess of Sussex will be performing royal duties on her own as a member of the monarchy.

Sine her marriage to Prince Harry in May, Meghan Markle has been relatively active as a member of the royal family, although none of the outings she has been a part of have been solo ones. From attending the RAF Centenary with Prince Harry, Prince William, and Duchess Kate to her one-on-one time with Queen Elizabeth in June, there have been plenty of royal duties that the Duchess has already handled.

While this might be Markle’s first royal outing on her own, as someone who has been in the public eye for years, we are sure that the Duchess of Sussex will be able to handle her royal duties with grace and elegance.
