Firefly

This is a show about Nathan Fillion in space. What’s not to love? A Joss Whedon creation, Firefly struggled throughout its life on air, but that didn’t stop fans from loving it so intensely that it spawned a movie and subsequent comic content.

The show had just one season at the beginning of the 2000s. Ever since, cast members Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Christina Hendricks, and more have moved on from the series (and even sci-fi). Still, talks of a reunion or reboot have always been on the horizon for the show.

Definitely made before its time, Firefly follows a crew of beings 500 years into the future, trying to survive planet by planet. Who knows why the show didn’t work? Maybe the space narrative didn’t really resonate with viewers at that time. It didn’t help that the episodes weren’t aired in the right order. Today, though, we’re right back into the thick of loving everything and anything to do with space exploration.

Maybe we miss Firefly because of what could have been, or maybe we miss it because we just love shows about space. Either way, the talks of a reboot show just how much we still want to see it thrive. Plus, with the way the world is going, that renegade crew might be us in the next 500 years.
