The Nanny

The Nanny had a picture-esque ending that could only be the product of the ’90s. Fran Fine worked for Maxwell Sheffield and ended up finding a family of her own while working with him. By the end of the series, she married Maxwell, the two had their own children, and Niles and C.C were even married off as well.

So what was so sad about it? First, the loss of a fashion icon. Fran Fine is still, to this day, one of the most stylish characters on television. With wild prints, big hair, and a handbag to match everything, she is someone you’d want to take shopping with you. But secondly, and probably more importantly, the Sheffields were a family we had grown to know and hang out with every week.

Some of us remember the Sheffield family from reruns when we would get home from school, but even then, saying goodbye was hard. The Nanny is just a fun show, something we don’t really have any more in popular television.

Fran simply fell in love with Maxwell, they had their family, and they lived happily ever after. To watch a fairytale-like The Nanny end is hard, and something like that probably wouldn’t get made today.
