Luke and Lorelai – Gilmore Girls

Their love story: If you ask this writer, this is perhaps the greatest of all the love stories on this list. Luke and Lorelai’s on-again, off-again relationship has everything we need in a “will they/won’t they.” For starters, it was always clearly evident that these two belonged together. No matter how neurotic or high-speed Lauren Graham played Lorelai, Scott Patterson’s Luke was grounded and balanced.

We watched as Luke pined for Lorelai as she made one disastrous romantic decision after another. He was a shoulder to cry on, a good cup of coffee, and the most reliable force in her life. It took a frustratingly long time for Lorelai to see this, and even once she did, she kinda messed it up for us all.

Did they or didn’t they: They did … sort of. The seventh and final season of Gilmore Girls was a bit of a misstep. Lorelai spent most of it marrying, divorcing, and then trying to get over Christopher. We didn’t’ really get any real movement in their relationship until the final moments of the finale when she kisses Luke in the rain. Sweet, right?

However, we had to wait a full 10 years for Day in the Life to see them actually get married. Don’t forget, we were denied a wedding in season 6 in a really drawn out and cruel way.

How to watch it unfold: You can start from those early days when neither of them knew what was in store for them on Netflix.
