Brandon and Andrea – Beverly Hills, 90210

Their love story: To call what happened between these two a “love story” is a real stretch. In fact, Andrea’s crush on Brandon should probably go into the TV hall of fame as “the world’s saddest unrequited love story.”

What made it the most tragic, however, is that Brandon knew all along how she felt. He just didn’t return her feelings, and he allowed her to follow him around with heart-eyes for almost her entire run on the series. There were a few moments that made fans think they were finally going to make Andrea’s dreams come true, and they even gave them a kiss. But nothing comes of it, and they just linger there, in the grey space between friendship and romance, until fans got fed up with how tragic it became.

Did they or didn’t they: They decidedly did not get together. The mild flirtations and innocuous jealousies never came to much of anything, and writers decided to keep these two just as friends. I imagine part of the reason they never gave the Andrea/Brandon plot it’s due attention is that the show was busy tangling and untangling the Dylan/Kelly/Brenda love triangle. Andrea never stood a chance against that action.

How to watch it unfold: Hulu has most all of the episodes of Beverly Hills, 90201, except the ones that couldn’t clear the music copyright bureaucracy. This means there are holes in the episodes, sometimes two or three episodes long, that you’ll just have to piece together.
