Sorry, Doctor Strange won’t be appearing in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has some sad news for Doctor Strange fans, but it’s not about the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.
We love to see crossovers with our favorite Marvel heroes appearing in any movie that technically isn’t theirs. That’s why it was such a delight to see characters like Tony Stark appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok.
But can we expect to see something like that again, after what we know about Infinity War and what’s to come in Avengers 4? Well, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is essentially shutting down our high hopes for one particular crossover that definitely won’t happen in the next Spider-Man movie.
Speaking to /Film, Kevin Feige was asked about Doctor Strange potentially making an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Of the many times Feige has been low-key about Marvel spoilers, he was pretty blunt this time around. Here’s how the conversation went as the interviewer inquired about Peter Parker’s visit to London and how that could influence a meeting with Strange:
"/Film: I’m wondering ’cause London, there is a sanctum there. Is Doctor Strange gonna be the one in this one?Feige: No./Film: No?Feige: I could be coy about it but no."
The interview was addressing a rumor in which Feige supposedly said that each Spider-Man movie would have a Marvel cameo (in the way Tony Stark appeared in the first movie). While that might not entirely be a lie, we can at least dispell rumors that Strange would be appearing in Far From Home.
It is quite a shame though, seeing as Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Spider-Man’s Tom Holland have displayed such good chemistry while doing press for Infinity War. Feige even addressed that in the interview, pointing to the two actors’ own wishes.
“I don’t wanna get people excited,” Feige began, “But Benedict and Holland have liked the idea of working together.”
The two already worked together before Infinity War in the 2017 movie The Current War. So maybe that explains why they had such good rapport from the get-go.

Either way, it looks like someone else will have to fill in the shoes for Peter Parker’s dad/guardian (especially if we’re to expect the worse from Tony Stark in Avengers 4.) Who are you hoping will appear as a cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home?
