Ross Gellar – Friends

What’s his deal: The uptight older brother of audience darling Monica, Ross Gellar seems like a pretty nice guy when he’s really kind of a trainwreck. Although he’s definitely not as nefarious as some of the folks on this list, he can surely push the boundaries of what you would accept from a person in your life.

It is well-established throughout the show that he has anger issues and just about lost his job over a sandwich. He also has questionable morals and very little self control. He says the wrong women’s name during his wedding, he dates a much younger student at his university, and he fakes an accent while teaching one of his classes. Don’t let the “aw shucks” bit fool you. He’s really a monster.

Why we love him anyway: Balance. Without Ross, this wholesome little bunch would have far less punchlines to deliver, and his moping wouldn’t offer such a stark contrast to the other’s charms and ingratiating personalities.

Essentially, we only love him, or tolerate him, because his presence makes the rest of the cast seem funnier, smarter, and much, much more well-adjusted. If Ross wasn’t such a terrible decision maker, we would never have gotten the iconic “We were on a break” fight.

Where to find him: You can get your fill of Ross and his peeps on Netflix. All 10 seasons are on available, and the best part about it is that you can skip any episode you want.
