Has Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis met his match in Creed II trailer?

In the first trailer for Creed II, Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed prepares to get back in the ring as he gets ready for the fight of his life. But is it a bad decision?

Creed is officially getting back in the ring, and this time the stakes are higher than ever. Yesterday, Michael B. Jordan revealed the poster for Creed II, teasing that we’d finally get to see the trailer for the sequel we’ve been expecting.

Today, that trailer is out, and the stakes have never been higher for Jordan’s character, Adonis Creed. The first looks at the movie show that he’s still determined to be a boxer despite pretty much everyone telling him that he should probably stop. But the determined Adonis is going for it anyway.

His mentor, the famous Rocky Balboa, even warns him that he has people that need him now. And judging by the quit cut from the trailer, it looks like Adonis and his girlfriend Bianca (Tessa Thompson) are parents. Even though Adonis lost his own father in a tragic boxing match, does that mean at some point, he’ll back down now that he’s in the same spot? Given his stubbornness, probably not.

Toward the end of the trailer, we get to see what’s really making Adonis’ inner-circle urge him to stop fighting. There’s a boxer donning a robe with the name “Drago,” who is the son of Ivan Drago — the man who killed his father long ago in Rocky IV.

This movie is shaping up to be one big revenge match, and there can only be one winner. Hopefully, this won’t be another tragedy with Adonis meeting the same fate as his father in the ring. It’s likely this new opponent will once again give him a run for his money. But if he’s smart and trains wisely, he can come out on top.
