5. S2E6: Tyrion slaps Joffrey (again).

If you enjoyed watching Tyrion slap Joffrey the first time, you likely felt just as much joy watching it happen all over again. The second season is full of contempt for the crown, and this reveals itself when a riot forms in King’s Landing.

Tyrion rightfully blames Joffrey for the discontent, resulting in a screaming match between the two of them. Tyrion wonders aloud whether Westeros has ever “been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king.”

Joffrey informs Tyrion that he’s speaking to a king. Tyrion then slaps him and shouts, “Now I’ve struck a king. Did my hand fall from my wrist?” It’s hard not to break into applause after watching it unfold.

6. S2E9: “Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let’s go kill them.”

Tyrion’s stint as Hand of the King was wrought with difficulties. Of course, we knew Joffrey and Cersei wouldn’t make it easy for him. But his most challenging moment appears during the Battle of the Blackwater. Joffrey tails it back to the castle at his mother’s command, an action that demoralizes the Lannister forces.

In order to ensure that the army defends the city against Stannis, Tyrion decides to lead the attack. The soldiers are less than thrilled at first, but Tyrion rallies them with a speech teeming with his usual wit. “They say I’m half a man,” he tells them as they wander off. “But what does that make the rest of you?”

He then gives a speech passionate enough to persuade just about anyone to fight with him. And his ending lines are what truly drive it home: “Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let’s go kill them!”
