Game of Thrones season 8: Jason Momoa, don’t tease us like that

The Game of Thrones showrunners are probably ridiculously busy wrapping up season 8, but they have time to grab drinks with Jason Momoa.

Let the conspiracy theories begin for Game of Thrones season 8. (Oh, who are we kidding? Those have been going on for a long time.) However, Elle UK has a new entrant, and it all centers around the man we still refer to as Khal Drogo, even if he’s also Declan Harp and Aquaman: Jason Momoa.

Unsurprisingly given his propensity to drink Guinness even while recording appearances on other shows, Momoa grabbed a pint with both David Benioff and Dan Weiss, then posted it to his Instagram.

To be completely fair, fans in the comments started speculating on what this could mean for Game of Thrones pretty much immediately (warning: there’s some not-safe-for-work profanity in the hashtags):

Momoa really didn’t make things too difficult by also posting “What’s next??”

Let’s face it: if this were an actual spoiler for the show, it’d probably get deleted. We’ve already seen that this off-season. Sure, Momoa’s openly admitted he has some foreknowledge about where the show is going in season 8, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into him showing back up, as both fans and Elle UK speculate.

Here’s an alternative conspiracy theory: Benioff and Weiss want Momoa to be in their Star Wars. Oh, yes, did you forget about the showrunners getting a presumably lucrative contract to work on new movies for Lucasfilm? Look, Momoa’s shown he can handle all kinds of weapons; a lightsaber or a blaster really shouldn’t be out of his range.

Admittedly, now we’re just picturing him as a Jedi.

Oops? Well, it’s not the worst thing to do, really.

But, right now, based on what we know about season 8 of Game of Thrones, it seems like betting on Momoa showing up in whatever Weiss and Benioff are doing for Lucasfilm is the slightly safer — though still not confirmed in any way, shape, or form, as this is mere speculation — bet at the moment.
