15 times Tom Holland stole our hearts
9. When he showed us how much of a Spider-Man fan he is
Watching Tom Holland play Spider-Man now, anyone would think he was born to play the swinging superhero. That’s not so far from the truth.
In 2015, Tom’s mom dug out his first ever Spider-Man costume, and it is so small and tiny, we could cry. Tom posted a picture of his adult-self holding up the tiny webbed t-shirt, captioned “A trip down memory lane…Thanks, mum, for keeping this.”
“I slept in that thing, that thing still stinks today. There’s no washes that can make that thing wearable,” he later laughed on The Graham Norton Show.
Tom even recreated the famous upside-down kiss between Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in the first Spider-Man movie. And we can safely say we have never been more jealous of the girl at the other end of it.
Tom has actually met the two actors whose footsteps he follows in playing the web-slinger, but it doesn’t sound like he got any upside-down kissing advice from Maguire.
“I met Tobey recently in LA at a screening for Baby Driver,” Tom told BBC Radio One. “He sat right in front of me and he didn’t see me.” Tom did his best whispering to get his attention though, and little else is known about that fortuitous encounter.
His meeting with Andrew Garfield was more fruitful, however, even after the somewhat bad experience, he had with the role, which he said broke his heart.
But Tom’s meeting with Garfield at the 2017 BAFTAs was nowhere near as distressing, with Tom reporting that “he was so nice, so sweet. It really felt like he was passing on the torch.”
We’ve loved all the Spider-Men, so it’s nice to know they all get along. But, then again, who wouldn’t get along with Tom Holland?
