The 100 season 5 episode 5 live stream: Watch online
Last week’s episode of The 100 marked a turning point for the fifth season’s plot. All of the characters are in some sort of danger, and their circumstances don’t appear to improve in “Shifting Sands.”
Last week’s episode of The 100 served as a major turning point for the show’s fifth season. Wonkru has reached the ground, and they’ve officially declared war on the Eligius Corporation. And underlying this conflict is a mysterious physical threat, one that could jeopardize the remaining population on Earth.
This week’s episode will elaborate on what that threat is. The preview for “Shifting Sands” suggests that it will focus heavily on the ailment Diyoza is looking to cure. The trailer shows Clarke examining someone who appears to have something dangerous crawling in his stomach.
If that isn’t disturbing enough, it’s unlikely that this person reached Wonkru’s camp by chance. There is a possibility that Eligius has resorted to biological warfare, especially since Diyoza’s attempt to bomb Wonkru out of existence didn’t work out as planned.
In addition to the illness storyline, “Shifting Sands” will also bring Raven and Murphy into the Eligius prisoners’ clutches. Diyoza wants them as leverage, and that can’t mean anything good for the pair. On the bright side, fans will finally get the Raven and Abby reunion we’ve been waiting for.
Bringing Raven and Murphy into the fold also sets up Shaw’s inevitable break from Eligius. He’s already shown resistance to Diyoza’s way of handling her enemies, and his inability to fire missiles at Wonkru was questionable. Did Raven actually stop him, or did he lie to his commander?
Considering his hesitation, either scenario is possible. And with the parallels between his and Raven’s storylines, the show seems to be setting them up for some type of relationship. Raven could be the catalyst for Shaw’s departure from the other inmates. If they do team up, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
“Shifting Sands” is also likely to unpack the tensions between Octavia, Bellamy, and Clarke. Bellamy and Clarke were more than a little surprised by what they found in the underground bunker, and it could take some time for them to get used to the new Octavia Blake.
