Supergirl season 3 episode 19 live stream: Watch online
By Amy Woolsey
James wrestles with his role as Guardian on Supergirl this week. Culturess has all the details you need on how to watch the episode.
Despite its intimacy, last week’s episode of Supergirl contained major developments. By the end of “Shelter from the Storm,” Ruby found out the truth about her mother’s “sickness.” Then, Lena severed her allegiance with Supergirl – and told Kara. In particular, the latter development stands to have lasting repercussions, driving a rift between the close friends. Will it be permanent?
It appears that we’ll have to wait to see those repercussions. For this week’s episode, titled “The Fanatical,” Supergirl shifts gears, bringing James into the spotlight. It’s about time. Since occupying a co-lead role in season 1, James has faded into the background; at this point, he feels like a mere guest star.
Read the official synopsis below:
"JAMES CONSIDERS UNMASKING AS GUARDIAN – When Tanya (guest star Nesta Cooper), a disciple of Coville’s, escapes from what’s left of his cult, she gives Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) a journal that could hold the key to saving Sam (Odette Annable). Someone learns Guardian’s identity and threatens to expose James if he doesn’t do what they ask. James contemplates what it means to be a black vigilante without a mask in America."
Who could the blackmailer be? Morgan Edge seems like a safe bet. The real estate mogul has fallen off the radar lately, and he has reasons for wanting to undermine James. But, really, we’re more interested in seeing how the episode explores James’s identity as a black man and a crime-fighter. Season 3 has mostly eschewed political commentary, so this is a welcome challenge.
Another thing: the episode title pegs it as a companion to “The Faithful,” still the highlight of season 3.
