Dancing with the Stars: Athletes week 3 live stream: Watch online
Dancing with the Stars: Athletes will cut the competition size down from six to three by the end of tonight’s episode, but who has the advantage?
Dancing with the Stars: Athletes, having had such a good result with having its competitors do two dances last week, has decided to do the same thing this week, bringing back yet another element that will give us the best head-to-head comparison of the athletes: dance-offs.
The dance-offs are as follows. As in previous seasons, votes from the viewing audience will break judges’ ties:
Cha cha
"Jennie Finch Daigle & Keo Motsepe vs. Tonya Harding & Sasha Farber: “Dance” — DNCE"
The advantage goes to Tonya here. She’s had consistently better scores and proved last week that fast paces don’t scare her; yes, this is even after Jennie actually already danced a cha cha last week.
Jive
"Mirai Nagasu & Alan Bersten vs. Adam Rippon & Jenna Johnson: “Johnny B. Goode” — Chuck Berry"
This will be the main event of the dance-off if we’re any judge of who’s ahead in the general race for the Mirrorball. Both will need to bring their A-game to impress America and the judges.
Salsa
"Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess vs. Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson: “WTF (Where They From)” — Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell Williams"
Chemistry goes a long way for dances like salsa, and that’s something that Josh and Sharna have over Chris and Witney. This is another tight competition, but we’ll put money on Josh to make the comeback.
Speaking of comebacks, there are individual dances this week as well:
Contemporary
"Josh Norman & Sharna Burgess: “Stand By Me” — BootstrapsAdam Rippon and Jenna Johnson: “O” — Coldplay"
Contemporary often has the highest potential for perfect scores, and so both of the men dancing in this category have an opportunity to either really gain some ground or maintain his top position, respectively.
Foxtrot
"Chris Mazdzer & Witney Carson – Foxtrot – “I Got Rhythm” by Ray Chew Live"
Chris will have a lot of semi-direct competition because of the quickstep and Viennese waltz also making appearances tonight, but he does have a chance to put on a good show.
Quickstep
"Mirai Nagasu & Alan Bersten: “Bo$$” — Ray Chew Live"
See what we mean about semi-direct competition?
Rumba
"Tonya Harding & Sasha Farber: “See You Again” — Tyler Ward"
Of the dance styles featured tonight, rumba is the most distinctive. As per usual with Tonya, this could be a wild card — but at least we lean more towards her pulling it off.
Viennese waltz
"Jennie Finch Daigle & Keo Motsepe: “The Rest of Our Life” — Tim McGraw & Faith Hill"
This style will likely be more in her comfort zone after last week’s cha cha song change.
